The STELLAR is ORBITAL's digital lightning strike counter, providing the same core functionality as the VIRTU but with a 6-digit LCD digital display for higher visibility and easier reading in low-light or high-glare outdoor conditions. No external battery required — powered entirely by the arrested strike current.

The STELLAR records every lightning strike event passing through the down conductor, maintaining a cumulative count that forms the basis of the maintenance log required under NFC 17-102. The digital display provides clear, unambiguous reading with no mechanical wear on the display mechanism.

The IP65-rated polycarbonate enclosure provides full weather protection for outdoor installation. Compatible with all ORBITAL ESE lightning rods and standard down conductor types. Function verifiable in the field using the ORBITAL ORB-X Strike Counter Test Unit.

Mounting Position

Install the STELLAR in-line on each down conductor. Position at a height accessible for reading and periodic inspection — typically 1.5–2m above ground level. NFC 17-102 requires one counter per down conductor.

Electrical Connection

The STELLAR connects in series with the down conductor. Both incoming and outgoing conductor connections must be secure and corrosion-free. No external power supply required.

Periodic Maintenance

Record the counter reading at each scheduled inspection. Test counter function using the ORBITAL ORB-X Test Unit. Replace counter if no response to the test signal.
